Keynote Speakers: Bede Healey, OSB.Cam PhD,
Venerable Tenzin Chogkyi
We invite you to join us again this summer at the lovely Franciscan retreat center in San Juan Bautista to explore the teachings of both Bede Healey, the local prior of Incarnation Monastery in Berkeley, and Ven. Tenzin Chogkyi, currently teaching at Land of Medicine Buddha in Soquel.
“We will pull aside the curtain and explore the dynamic processes of hoping and believing , how they come to be within us and the ways in which we need to foster their continued development, for they are the basis for our deepest relationships- with ourselves, God and other. Indeed, this is at the heart of living out the monastic way of life as outlined in by Benedict and focused by Romuald.”
-Bede Healey, OSB Cam PhD
“Holiness the Dalai Lama has often commented that the essence of spiritual practice, held in common with all traditions, is cultivating a good heart. The Four Immeasurables, or the Four Brahmaviharas, as they are called in the Pali tradition, are loving-kindness, compassion, empathetic joy, and equanimity. We will explore these four qualities and the practices that are used to cultivate them.”
-Ven. Tenzin Chogkyi
