Incarnation Monastery is located in the Berkeley Hills just north of the University of California and the Graduate Theological Union. It is a quiet space and guests are welcome and encouraged to join in the prayer of the monastic community if they so desire. Each guest room, with its own balcony, enjoys a beautiful view of the whole San Francisco Bay. Adjacent to the Monastery is a lovely public park. Just a short distance away is the Graduate Theological Union, a remarkable ecumenical and inter-faith experience bonding nine seminaries (Baptist, Episcopal, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Roman Catholic, Dominican, Franciscan, Jesuit, Unitarian and interdenominational), together with Orthodox, Judaic, Islamic, Hindu and Buddhist Institutes. The Chaplaincy Institute is also very close by.
Our guest rooms have a separate entrance, and shared bathrooms. The accommodations are simple but comfortable. Towels and bed linens are provided. Meals are not provided but a kitchen and a small kitchenette are available to store and prepare your own meals. A gentle silence is observed throughout the day, with a special emphasis on silence during the evening and night hours. There is no public transportation in our area, so to get around here you will need either a car or sturdy walking legs.
It is best to arrive either between 11am and noon, or between 4 to 5pm. Other times can be arranged with the guest master. However, evening arrivals are difficult because of our monastic schedule and life.
Checkout is 12 noon.
